About me
My name is Madeline Dawson. I am an OFSTED registered childminder providing home based childcare in the Clifton/Rawcliffe area of York. I live in a semi-detached house with a large enclosed rear garden, which is both smoke and pet free. I live with my husband Adam, who is a secondary school English teacher and our son Stanley who is 7 months old.
Before having Stanley I worked for a number of years in retail and administration before moving into childcare. I have over 6 years experience working with children and prior to having Stanley worked as an Early Years Professional in a local nursery. I have experience of working with children from birth through to age of 8. I hold a degree in Economics and Business, a Post Graduate Certificate of Education with Qualified Teacher Status (Ages 3 - 7) and Early Years Professional Status (Ages 0 - 5).
I have also undertaken training in Safeguarding, First Aid, Food Hygiene and Allergy Awareness as well as attending additional training courses including Movement Play, Schemas, Circle Time, Behaviour Management, and Supporting Children who have English as an Additional Language.
I aim to provide all children in my care with a home from home, providing them with a safe and stimulating environment in which to explore and progress. I strongly believe that young children learn best through play and exploration and I aim to provide all children with equal opportunities to achieve their full potential and follow their own interests, thus enabling them to become independent learners. I aim to work closely with parents/carers as well as schools and other childcare providers to ensure that the needs of each child are fully met. Each child in my care will be observed regularly, in line with the EYFS, to enable me to plan for their individual needs and interests. All children will be given the opportunity to explore different cultures and traditions as well as their own, and learn to appreciate and value each other’s similarities and differences. I offer a safe, happy and nurturing environment where children can play, learn and most of all, have fun!
